Social Networking Sites World’s Most Banned Webpages

The World's Most Blocked Websites for 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2017, Social Networking Sites World’s Most Banned Web
Qouted from labnol.org “OpenDNS, one of the most popular DNS services on the Internet, is frequently used by parents and organizations to block websites that they think are inappropriate for children or may hamper productivity at the workplace.”

A website/site is a depository of information destined for public or private use, usually residing in a remote server. When a computer terminal calls the website (using the HTTP or HTTPS protocol) the server responds by sending the information requested back to the user.

The list includes social networking sites (Facebook.com, MySpace.com, Twitter.com) and adult websites (Redtube.com, Pornhub.com and Playboy.com) as usual but the presence of two major advertising networks on that list suggests people do have their share of privacy concerns.
Facebook.com, MySpace.com, Twitter.com, Redtube.com, Pornhub.com and Playboy.com
Here’s the full list of constantly blacklisted sites from OpenDNS. Percentages indicate the proportion of OpenDNS networks using blacklisting that reference a given site.

1. Facebook.com —14.2%
2. MySpace.com — 9.9%
3. YouTube.com — 8.1%
4. Doubleclick.net — 6.4%
5. Twitter.com — 2.3%
6. Ad.yieldmanager.com — 1.9%

Running Linux on iPad Leak soon on iPhone 4, iPod Touch 4G

ubuntu iphone 2.png
A team of jailbreak developers has recently managed to install the Linux desktop operating system on Apple’s A4 equipped iOS devices. The news comes as the image of an iPad running Linux was tweeted by one of the team’s developers.

A while back, we told you how the iPad was already more popular that Linux computers (in North America). Now, the two have “come together” thanks to the hard work of @BluerisEN et. al. The aforementioned tweet, which hit the Web several days ago, read:

So, we finally got Linux running on a mirror. http://ponyfac.es/1http://twitpic.com/6ayscz

The software isn’t compatible with Apple’s iPad 2, iPhone 4, iPod Touch 4G, because the tablet sports a dual-core Apple A5 processor, as opposed to the A4 processor present within the iPhone 4, original iPad and fourth generation iPod touch. Via ijailbreak

Superior multi-touch mouse of Microsoft Review [VIDEO]

mstouchmouse.jpg
Microsoft Touch Mouse makes navigating Windows 7 a breeze. Discover how its elegant design quickly handles everyday on-screen actions like scrolling, minimizing/maximizing, and docking with easy-to-learn finger gestures.

Hardware and the Design:
The mouse features rounded soft corners and a comfortable slope to rest your hand and wrist on. The surface of the mouse is made of matte plastic and features rows of raised dots and x’s. The rows outline the multitouch parts of the mouse surface. The bottom of the mouse features a shiny white plastic surface with quick access to the two AA batteries for the device. Microsoft has also created an area inside the bottom of the mouse to house the USB transceiver, presumably aimed at laptop users. Microsoft also ships a USB extension cable as part of the package to minimise any potential interference.
Microsoft Touch Mouse.jpg
Microsoft has designed the mouse for ambidextrous use. Both left and right-handed users can operate it with ease. The mouse fits either hand comfortably. The Touch Mouse also features BlueTrack technology. The technology enables smooth tracking on most surfaces apart from clear glass or mirrors.

Setup:
Plugging in the micro-transceiver brings up a full screen instructional guide on how to use the mouse. The quick eight step guide teaches you how to use all the touch functions of the mouse, including hiding and showing windows, maximizing and minimizing, Aero Snap, and your back and forth buttons. The entire mouse uses gesture controls, except of course your left and right click buttons. For example, to minimize all your windows, you simply drag three fingers from the tip of the mouse in towards your palm, and reverse to reveal them all.

touchmouseexpose.jpg

Pros and Cons:
Pros:
  • Gestures are very easy to use
  • Great look and feel, very comfortable to hold
  • Works on any surface and has great precision
Cons:
  • $79.99 MSRP for a mouse
  • Not really intended to be a gaming mouse
  • No middle click button
Price and Availability:
The Microsoft Touch Mouse is available in stores now and has an MSRP of $79.99, although I have seen it cheaper on some retail chains' web sites.

Facebook Lightbox Bigger, Faster +white Background

Facebook Photos got new look! a new version of its popular Photos app, complete with speed improvements and larger images.

“Now, the photos you share on Facebook are bigger (720 pixels to 960 pixels) and load twice as fast, giving you quicker access to more detailed images,” Facebook’s Justin Shaffer said in a blog post. “Photos you’ve already uploaded to your profile will also be displayed at this higher resolution.”

In addition to the increased photo size, Facebook is rolling out a revamped photo viewer. The new viewer takes up more screen real estate (since photos are now larger) and reduces clutter so users can focus on the photo and nothing else.

Facebook Makes Photos Bigger Faster.jpg

“The Facebook light box is now set against a simple white background that puts more of the focus on the photo, and less on the surrounding frame,” Shaffer noted.

HP G60-630US 15.6-inch Laptop Review

HP G60 630US.jpg
The Hewlett Packard G60-630US is a versatile laptop that looks great and feels great to use too, especially because of the numeric keypad and full size keyboard, making data entry and typing an absolute breeze. Something you certainly wouldn't find on a netbook like the HP Mini Note 5101.

The integrated Intel graphics chip does in normal operation, the work satisfactorily and energy efficient. I alway watch movies and play casual games, Even with modern games (The sims3) no visible judder. Fan consistently quiet if one does not, or holds a similar task for the computer. The keyboard (unfortunately without number pad), well made, quiet (subjective opinion). The touch pad is framed into the case, makes a good impression. Switch it off with tap in the upper left corner. Multi-touch gestures (leaves, call a particular program) it can handle.

Apple notes OS X Lion 10.7.2 Build +iCloud Updates to Developers

Apple seeded a new OS X Lion 10.7.2 build, iPhoto 9.2 beta 3 and iCloud beta 9 to its developers on Friday. Apple’s release notes said the Lion update focuses on Airport, AppKit, GraphicsDrivers, iCal, iChat, Mac App Store, Mail, Spotlight and Time Machine. As usual, Apple warns that this is a pre-release build and that developers should not yet install it on a machine that they depend on for their business. Despite that warning, there are no known new issues with the seed and we’ve included Apple’s notes after the break.

Among today's new releases for OS X:

- OS X Lion 10.7.2 Update (Build 11C43)
- iCloud for Lion beta 9
- iPhoto 9.2 beta 3

The new OS X Lion 10.7.2 build continues to list no known issues and asks developers to focus their testing on AirPort, AppKit, GraphicsDrivers, iCal, iChat, Mac App Store, Mail, Spotlight, and Time Machine.

There are no new updates posted on the iOS side at this time.

Apple has announced that it will be launching iOS 5 and iCloud this fall. The company has been rumored to be launching new iPhone hardware in early-to-mid October, and iOS 5 and iCloud should be going live right around that same time. Apple will almost certainly be holding a media event a week or two ahead of that launch to introduce the new hardware and give final details on iOS 5 and iCloud.

HP Elitebook 8760w Review +Specs

The HP EliteBook 8760w offers a 17.3-inch diagonal, high-definition (HD) screen, a choice of high-performing AMD FirePro or nVidia Quadro professional graphics and up to 4GB of video memory. The NVIDIA Quadro 5010M is a much more incremental update to its predecessor than the GeForce GTX 485M was to the 480M, though I suspect NVIDIA opted to continue using GF1x0 for their top shelf mobile workstation GPU due to its superior HPC capabilities.

HP EliteBook 8760w will be available with 17.3-inch screen with a resolution of 1600 x 900 or 1920 x 1080 pixels, and powered by an Intel Core or Intel Core i7-2920XM/2820QM/2720QM/230QM/2620M i5-2540M/2520M. In addition, this laptop also has a 750GB storage and 16GB of DDR3 RAM.

The EliteBook 8760w is also MIL-STD 810G business-rugged and has a gunmetal gray exterior design. Having been a user of the now-outdated EliteBook 8740w for 5 months (and used other various other models), I can testify that fact: the EliteBooks are built like tanks and run like sports cars.
HP EliteBook 8760w Mobile Workstation.png
The laptop comes with windows 7 Home 64 bit professional and alss has a inbuit HD Webcam. EliteBook 8760 other features include Touchpad with on/off button, All in one memory card reader, HP Long Life 8-cell (75 WHr) Li-Ion HP EliteBook 8760w battery.

MicroGen Systems develop Long Lifetime Energy-Harvesting Chips

Inexpensive Chip.jpg
MicroGen Systems is constructing energy-harvesting chips designed to power wireless sensors like those used to monitor tire pressure and environmental conditions. The chips convert the energy from environmental vibrations into electricity that's then used to charge a small battery. The chips could eliminate the need to replace batteries in these devices, which today requires a trip to a mechanic or, for networks of sensors that are widely distributed, a lot of legwork.

The core of MicroGen's chips is a one-centimeter-squared array of tiny silicon cantilevers that oscillate when the chip is jostled. At the base of the cantilevers is a bit of piezoelectric material: when it's strained by vibrations, it produces an electrical potential that can be used to generate electrical current. The cantilever array is mounted on top of a postage-stamp-sized, thin-film battery that stores the energy it generates. The current passes from the piezoelectric array through an electrical device that converts the current to a form compatible with the battery. When the chip is shaken by, say, the vibrations of a rotating tire, it can produce about 200 microwatts of power.

MicroGen systems, Inc. is developing a suite of products based on its proprietary piezoelectric vibrational energy harvester (PZEH) technology. These low cost, long lifetime (over 20 years) Micro-ElectroMechanical Systems (MEMS) are micro-power sources that extend rechargeable battery lifetime or will eliminate the need for batteries altogether. Steve Jobs resigns from Apple, Tim Cook named CEO

steve jobs.jpg
Steven Paul "Steve" Jobs, co-founder and two-time CEO of Apple Inc., offered his resignation to the company’s board Wednesday.

“I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know,” he wrote. “Unfortunately, that day has come.”

Jobs has been in poor health for some time. In January, he announced that he would be taking a medical leave of absence from the company. He returned to the public spotlight in March to help launch the iPad 2.

Jobs advised the board to “execute our succession plan”  by naming Tim Cook to replace him. Cook, formerly the COO of the company, has been standing in for Jobs since January and was widely tipped to be his successor. Cook also stood in for Jobs during his bout with pancreatic cancer in 2004. “The Board has complete confidence that Tim is the right person to be our next CEO,” said board member Art Levinson, chairman of biotech firm Genentech, in a prepared statement. China nabs World's Largest Computer Market

China dethrones US as world's largest PC market, China becomes the World's biggest PC Market
China surpassed the United States of America to become as the world's biggest personal computer (PCs) market for the first time during the second quarter, market researcher IDC said Tuesday, highlighting the growing importance of a market where big US PC makers have struggled to compete.

The research firm is projecting that Chinese PC shipments will total 85.1 million units next year, compared to just 76.6 million units shipped in the U.S. The influx of new tablet devices and advanced smartphones, such as Apple’s iPhone and iPad, may be driving consumer interest away from notebooks and traditional desktop PCs in developed markets, The Wall Street Journal reported on Tuesday. “The center of gravity of the PC industry has shifted away from the developed world,” Wolf Group Asia CEO David Wolf said.

China’s growth helped Lenovo become the third-largest PC maker, behind HP and Dell, with a 12.2% of global PC shipments. HP’s share of the Chinese market dropped from a 16.6% during the third quarter of 2009 to 8.5% during the second quarter of 2011.

Google commemorate the 112th Birthday of Jorge Luis Borges Doodle

Jorge Luis Borges.jpg
Google Search celebrates 112th Birthday of Jorge Luis Borges with Google Doodle !! Sir Jorge Luis Borges real name (Jorge Francisco Isidoro Luis Borges Acevedo) was an Argentine writer, essayist, poet and translator born in Buenos Aires.

His work embraces the "character of unreality in all literature." His most famous books, Ficciones (1944) and The Aleph (1949), are compilations of short stories interconnected by common themes such as dreams, labyrinths, libraries, animals, fictional writers, religion and God.
jorge luis borges 2011.jpg
Sir Jorge works have contributed to the genre of science fiction as well as the genre of magical realism, a genre that reacted against the realism/naturalism of the nineteenth century. In fact, critic Angel Flores, the first to use the term, set the beginning of this movement with Borges's Historia universal de la infamia (1935).

Dual boot Installation of Ubuntu Linux on HP TouchPad

Ubuntu Linux and Android Could Give HP's TouchPad, Install Ubuntu Linux on HP TouchPad [Dual boot]
How can install Ubuntu Linux on HP TouchPad?

Running Ubuntu Linux on the HP TouchPad has already been made possible, although its not very easy for the beginners. It involves partitioning the storage space on the tablet, and Dual booting.

Pre-requisite: Install Preware
PreWare is an app store for homebrew apps that are not on webOS App Catalog, just like 3rd party markets on android or Cydia on iOS. For installation, you can follow Internals Wiki. To summarize, you would either need Official HP SDK and using the webOS Quick Install tool, or you can even use using a standalone installer.
1. Install Meta doctor
Refer to Guide: Set up Meta-Doctor
Summary of what you need to do:
  • On Mac OS X or Linux, install Git and Java runtime, install Palm Novacom software, and download the meta-doctor scripts.
  • Download and run the webOS Doctor.
  • Create an ext3fs partition on your device (chrooting), ideally it should be large enough to accomodate a Ubuntu install, 4gb min.
  • Then mount the ext3fs partition when your device boots. (More instructions at the PreCentral forums).
2. UbuntuChroot
Refer to Guide: UbuntuChroot
Summary:
  • In PreWare, make sure the WebOS Internals Testing Feeds are enabled.
  • Install Xecutah and Ubuntu 11.04 CHroot.
  • Run XServer.
  • Return to Xecutah and tap Ubuntu 11.04 Chroot.
Enabling Graphical Ubuntu.
If you made it to here, you will have full access to Ubuntu CLI. To get the graphical interface, use apt-get install to install Ubuntu packages. Run either of the following:
apt-get install icewm Xfce
apt-get install icewm LXDE
Running Gnome, KDE
You can install your favorite GUI its just that they are more resource hungry (more prominently RAM) and you don’t really want to kill your tablet.
App compatibility
When downloading an app, just look for ARM compatible ones. If you are a developer & find an open source app that doesn’t have a ARM binary, you can always build it for ARM architecture.

Apple iPad 3 plus A6 Processor?

Apple ios6.jpg
Apple will be trying to churn out their latest A6 processor with layering techniques that can result in a more powerful processor.

The layering can compact the circuit’s design along with running the chip on very low power.

The result is a flaming fast performing device that consumes less battery power.

It was also suggested from Computerworld that iPad 3’s chip is advanced enough to replace Apple’s MacBook Air processors.

Apple iPad3

The first reference to the upcoming iPad 3 was found in the USB config files found in iOS 5 beta in June. The discovery referred to two iPads "iPad 3, 1 and iPad 3, 2."

In its current avatar, the iPad 2 is internally recognized as iPad 2,1 (Wi-Fi), iPad 2, 2 (GSM) and iPad 2, 3 (CDMA) and the identification of the iPad 3 under only two codes iPad 3, 1 and iPad 3, 2 possibly alludes to the next iOS 5 devices as "world devices" compatible with both GSM and CDMA networks.
