Instead of picking up a few pumpkins from the grocery store, however, we decided to work on six giant pumpkins, specially delivered from nearby Half Moon Bay (some weighing well over 1,000 pounds). Dr. Joel Yang of R & D center Singapore Institute of Materials found a way to fit even several times larger number of bits in the same area, as is the case today. It turns out that just add a bit of common table salt. How is that possible?
Hard disks are coated with tiny magnetic pellets, separated by a few nanometers, thus creating the island, formed in the process nanolitografii. Dr. Yang found that by adding to the process a little salt, you can repeatedly increase the recording density on the surface of the disk, because salt is used to produce better, although not smaller granules, which appropriately manipulated, can turn into a unit of information, instead of cake each other in the island.
A group of scientists led by Dr. Yang has already demonstrated the storage capacity of 1.9 terabit, zmieszczoną on the surface of 6.5 square centimeters. It is about 4 times more than current hard drives get. According to the researchers, using this method you can get up to 3.3 terabit per square inch, which will translate into a 18-terabyte hard drives!

CEO and co-founder of Nvidia Jen-Hsun "Jensen" Huang has confirmed the unveiling of Nvidia Tegra 3 platform in the near future. Huang also said that this platform will use the official name of Kal-El.
In addition, Jen-Hsun Huang also confirmed that the next line of Tegra products will use the name of the comic. After Kal-El Nvidia takes its name from the Superman comics, future generations will include Wayne taken from the Batman comics, Stark from Iron Man comics, and others.

Sony has officially started the initial development phases for the first ever Playstation 4 games.
We’ve got a long way to go until the Playstation 3 makes way for a successor, but sources close to Sony have confirmed to several sites that early progress is being made with the first games.
Games website Develop reports that various game projects for the next-generation Playstation console have started, and are currently in very early stages. The website quotes a ‘trusted source’ that is ‘connected to the matter’.
Sony has sixteen of its own studios which are used to develop games for its variety of consoles including Naughty Dog (Crash Bandicoot), Media Molecule (Little Big Planet) and Guerilla Games (Killzone), though we don’t know which of the studios are currently working on PS4 titles.

The Airborne Metro is an ambitious travel concept designed to make flying around the world a faster and more efficient process. The benefits are -- Overall carbon fuel economy and in climate impact. Reduction in airport congestion. Reduction in noise at airports.
The Airborne Metro would be powered by nuclear energy so that it would never have to land. The idea behind the concept is to save jet fuel on conventional aircraft by letting them hitch a ride on the metro
This vast concept envisages an era when climate changing emissions, ground congestion and noise pollution will no longer be acceptable at their presently forecast levels. It seeks to sustain the apparently unlimited demands of people for travel without the huge penalties that these are beginning to impose.
The concept depends upon the feasibility of very large flight vehicles, perhaps carrying over 3000 passengers and for these eventually to be nuclear powered. These large "Air Cruisers" would stay aloft on a semi-permanent basis receiving their loads of passengers, freight and supplies in mid-air.

The Sims 3 - Pets is the third content pack to be based on this subject matter, following its aforementioned Sims 2 equivalent and the earlier Sims Unleashed. It's well-trodden ground for the series, but fortunately EA's latest offering introduces enough original content, such as new adoptable animals and extra customisation features, to justify its existence.
The Sims 3 - Pets allows you to adopt two kinds of animal - low-maintenance creatures such as snakes and rabbits, and high-maintenance beasts that can be trained to perform tasks. The latter has traditionally consisted of cats and dogs in previous add-ons, though this latest pack adds horses to the equation.
Dogs and cats in particular are an important part of your Sims household. They may not be able to get fully-fledged jobs like before, but they can be trained to hunt, and are fully controllable this time around. So, while your bread-winning Sim is away at work, you can stalk other people's low-maintenance animals with your cat (if you want to indulge your evil streak), or locate valuable items with your hound. These are the game-changing benefits of owning pets, but they can just be mere novelties if you prefer the hands-off approach.

Overall, The Sims 3: Pets is a fantastic addition to the franchise and easily the most enjoyable thus far. It’s a shame the console versions don’t include cool features like creating and maintaining horses and minor animals like snakes, lizards and birds. Either way, if you’re a huge Sims fan, chances are you’ll end up purchasing the PC version anyway. For newcomers of the series, or gamers looking to have a very similar experience on their console, you won’t be disappointed. The lower price point on consoles is certainly welcomed, but some may feel even $50 for an expansion is a little much. Just know that once you pick up The Sims 3: Pets, you’ll quickly become attached and end up spending a lot more time than you’d expect. Which is always a good thing.

Solar Ship previews its first three commercial solar-powered aircraft that require no roads, no fuel, no infrastructure.
A Toronto company called Solar Ship has designed an aircraft that it says will be able to travel 1,000 kilometres carrying up to 1,000 kilograms of cargo, powered only by the sunlight that shines on its back. It will also be able to take off from — and land on — a spot no larger than a high-school soccer field.
The Solar Ship is a unique combination of helium balloons and solar arrays that allows the ship to travel up to 600 miles with up to 2,000 pounds of cargo. The helium keeps the ship afloat the solar arrays send power to a lithium-ion battery system. Far from a concept design, this aircraft actually exists.
Toshiba Introduces new 6.1-Inch Display at 498 PPI capable of 2560 x 1600.
The screen you see above is a 6.1-inch LCD Toshiba hopes will make its way into tablet devices. That’s an unusual size for tablets, which are typically 7 or 10-inches. However, some manufacturers may want to consider using it due to the resolution and image quality the LCD panel can achieve.
Toshiba has managed to squeeze 498 pixels per square inch (ppi) into this panel. It can display images at a resolution much higher than 1080p, more specifically it tops out at 2,560 x 1,600. Imagine how good your photographs would look on this thing. Add to that viewing angles of 176 degrees both horizontally and vertically, a contrast ratio of 1000:1, as well as a 61% NTSC color gamut allowing for 16.7 million colors.

Socialmedia site Mashable reportedly at least four videos have been uploaded to the account, all time-stamped within two hours.
A fifth video was apparently removed. The video, “Garry’s Mod – Escape the Box," featured what appeared to be an animated gunman shooting at the inside of a construction box.
The channel’s description reads, “I DID NOTHING WRONG I SIMPLY SIGNED INTO MY ACCOUNT THAT I MADE IN 2006 :/."

Google is still trying to get its Google TV project to become more attractive to mainstream consumers. The effort to merge televisions with a Google-developed operating system has so far only brought in two hardware partners.
One is Sony, who put Google TV inside three models of its Bravia TV line. The other is Logitech, which created the Revue set-top box with the operating system inside. Sales for both companies have not been up to expectations.
According Zatsnotfunny.com screenshots shows the new user interface of Google TV 2.0. As promised, this new version is based on Google's Android 3.1 operating system, also known as Honeycomb. Some of the best “apps” are still Google TV-specific video streaming web pages - such as the Wall Street Journal and Al Jezeera. But it’s a double edged sword as many content providers continue to selectively block access from Google TV, including CBS and ABC.

The Lytro camera is an odd-looking beast, appearing more like a boxy torch than a camera. Two versions will be available at launch, the company has confirmed: a 16GB model capable of storing 750 pictures and coloured red; and a cheaper 8GB model that can store 350 pictures in grey or blue.
That also gives us another piece of information: the size of each 'light-field' image prior to processing. At 750 pictures per 16GB of storage, that's around 20-22MB per image - not bad for a picture that can be refocused after the event.

The Asus Eee Pad Transformer 2 Specs-Video has leaked and Android Authority is showing off the goods. Although the leaked video showing the Asus is just a few of these whole new tablet, but it seems that the Eee Pad Transformer 2 will have a slim body with a number of maalterials rather than plastic. Transformer 2 to look just like one of their recently unveiled Zenbook Ultrabooks, meaning it’s thin and lean.
Transformer 2 ultra svelte, while still retaining it’s signature keyboard-connecting feature, although it is packed with Nvidia’s latest and great quad-core CPU, a.k.a. Kal-El.
Kal-El is the world’s first quad-core mobile CPU, according to Nvidia. Though the processor is still currently codenamed Kal-El, it’s been colloquially dubbed “Tegra 3″, as that’s the name it is likely to launch under.
All the rumors point to a release in early November with a price higher then $399, closer to $499 but I don't think that will include the keyboard in this video nor do I think the keyboard is going to be a full service dock like with the TF101. But of course all those rumors could be false and Asus could shock everyone with the worlds first and only Tegra 3 ICS powered tablet for under $499, undercutting the iPad 2, now that would something.
Google Doodle honored the 100th Birthday Celebration of American artist Mary Blair (Real name Mary Robinson).
Mary Blair began her career as a well received fine art watercolorist, but soon moved to working in the animation industry, most notably for Walt Disney Studios. Her art was a great favorite of Walt's. Mary Blair worked on concept art for Saludos Amigos and the Three Caballeros, and was credited as art supervisor. She is most famous for the wonderful concept art she did for Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, and Cinderella. She was credited in these films as color stylist. Walt Disney loved Mary Blair's sense of color styling, and asked her to help design the Disney exhibit and ride "It's a Small World" in the 1960's. She also designed the 90 foot high mural which is in the lobby of Disney's Contemporary Resort at Walt Disney World which opened in 1971. Through four different decades her artistic vision and color styling were a large part of many of the most beloved creations of the Walt Disney Company.
In 1991, Mary was recognized with a posthumous Disney Legend award. Also posthumously, she received the Winsor McCay award from ASIFA-Hollywood in 1996.
