A computer with a wireless Internet connection hurts sperm, but not because the machine can heat up your lap, a new study suggests.

After four hours of exposure, one-quarter of the sperm were no longer swimming — Reuters reported. In comparison, 14 percent of sperm cells that had been kept at the same temperature but not exposed to wi-fi were no longer swimming. What's more, DNA damage was more common in the wi-fi sperm than in the "control" sperm.

In a control test — with the sperm kept away from WiFi emissions, but at the same under-laptop temperature — 14% of the sperm died within four hours, and 3% showed DNA damage. When placed underneath a laptop for four hours, 25% of the sperm died and 9% showed DNA damage. The important finding here is that WiFi electromagnetic (EM) radiation damaged the sperm — almost every other study has focused on increased temperature (which also damages sperm, incidentally).

Apple is opening a new store in New York’s Grand Central soon, and it looks absolutely stunning. The store is expected to occupy 23,000 feet (crazy!). It is also expected to generate half-a-billion in sales a year!

An anonymous source told the New York Post that the store is on track to open on Friday, Dec. 9. The report also suggested that a media event is being planned by Apple and railroad officials for that date, though the initial opening could be a VIP-only event with a public grand opening on Saturday, Dec. 10. However, no official grand opening date has been given from Apple.

His first novel, Astronauci (The Astronauts) was forced to include many references to the “glorious future of communism” as Lem was writing during the Stalinism era, where all published work had to be approved by the communist regime.

He was internationally recognised for his work, The Cyberiad, which was a series of humorous short stories from a mechanical universe inhabited by robots. The book was first published in English in 1974.

Lem died aged 84 on March 27, 2006, in Krakow, Poland, from heart disease.

Hit up XDA-Developers and download the Nexus S custom ROM (v2, “no need for wifi patch”). If you have a 4G Nexus S, you can download the appropriate custom ROM.

2. Root your phone and install ROM Manager
If you’re already using CyanogenMod (which hopefully you are), your phone will already be rooted and have ROM Manager installed.
The best way to do this is to follow a video guide, but googling for “how to root nexus s” works as well.

3. Make a backup!

Scroll down in ROM Manager and select “Backup Current ROM.” This will back up all of the system and app data on your phone — but not any data on your SD card, such as photos or music. This backup is saved on your phone’s SD card, in the “clockworkmod” directory — and once it’s done, you should copy this to your computer via USB. You will need this backup if you want to restore your phone to its pre-ICS state.

Installing ICS on your Nexus S should not affect the contents of your SD card.
Please bear in mind that installing this build of ICS will completely wipe out your installed apps.


4. Install Android 4 on your Nexus S

Now, from ROM Manager, hit “Install ROM from SD Card,” and surf to the zip file on your SD card (“ics-crespo-aosp-4.0.1-v2-unsigned.zip” or similar). Select “Wipe Data and Cache” and “Wipe Dalvik Cache” from the menu and press OK (see right).

ICS will now install. Your phone will reboot, and in about 60 seconds you’ll be greeted by Ice Cream Sandwich’s phone setup screens, and then some basic tutorials.

Google Chromebook Now Available for $299.

Acer descend the price of their AC700 Chromebook (Wi-Fi) to $299. The product listing on both Amazon.com and Acer.com still mention the old $349 price but once you add the Chromebook to your shopping cart, it uses the reduced price.

Acer AC700-1099 features an 11.6" screen, Intel Atom N570 Processor, 2 GB RAM, 16 GB SSD hard drive and runs on Google Chrome OS.

Amazon won’t ship these to India but there are strong hints that Google could officially launch Chromebooks in India in early 2012. Samsung had earlier dropped the price of all their Chromebook models by almost 10%.

Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich aboard are easily the biggest news surrounding the release of Google’s newest mobile OS, it would seem that Google is already ramping up its efforts to show off the tablet-based capabilities of the system. After Samsung Galaxy Nexus finally launching with the brand new Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich now seeing what appears to be our first actual glimpse of Ice Cream Sandwich on a tablet, even if it’s just a render.

Honeycomb looked like on the tablet, complete with the three buttons in the lower left (updated to reflect the change in icons now) as well as the slightly more cyan-colored accents. Icons sit on the first homepage as they would otherwise, and the time in the lower right-hand corner is updated to the new font made specifically for this system alongside a wi-fi signal and a full battery. You’ll find an apps button in the upper right, and a simple Google search widget in the upper left.

The ProBook 4420s is a 14" notebook laptop from HP. The differences between the different models in the ProBook line lie mostly in screen size and processor power, and the 4420s lies somewhere in the middle of the line.

As for under the hood, the 4420s are available with Core i7, i5 or Core i3 processors, support up 8 GB of memory and come with up to 500 GB of storage. The design of the laptop is flawed with a touch pad which lies to the right side and mouse buttons to the left. So it just gets hard to find one smooth surface. The ports are not positioned rightly all the USB ports are placed at the front so when we fix an external keyboard it becomes difficult to use it as it will be far away from the laptop.

German company ledo LED technologie GmbH has created 'bulled', a series of three retrofitted LED light bulbs which match the size, shape and brightness of incandescents while being 85% more energy efficient.

11 dimmable LED modules combine in a single frame to create as much illumination as a 60 watt incandescent while only being 11 watts while fluorescent alternatives are also energy efficient, they have a cool color temperature, giving off a white light.

By contrast the color temperature of 'bulled' is 2800K, allowing the light to look very warm and natural. because of the shape, the light disperses at 330 degrees. with a lifespan of 80,000 hours it lasts 80 years with conventional use.

LEDs last far longer than incandescent bulbs, are much more energy-efficient, and contain less toxic substances. Compact fluorescents give them a run for their money in some areas, although LEDs tend to have a warmer, “nicer” light.  These have included products from Geobulb, Switch, GE and Sharp.

A team of engineers claims to have created the world’s lightest material. The substance is made out of tiny hollow metallic tubes arranged into a micro-lattice - a criss-crossing diagonal pattern with small open spaces between the tubes. The researchers say the material is 100 times lighter than Styrofoam and has “extraordinarily high energy absorption” properties.


Made out of 90% nickel and consisting of 99.9% air, the new material, dubbed "ultralight metallic microlattice," is light enough to be balanced atop a dandelion without crushing the fuzzy seeds.

The team presented its finidings in the November 18th issue of the peer-review magazine Science. In the article, lead author Tobias Shandler said, "The trick is to fabricate a lattice of interconnected hollow tubes with a wall thickness 1,000 times thinner than a human hair."

The new micro-lattice material is so light that it can sit atop dandelion fluff without damaging it.
