It comes with a 3.5" screen with a resolution of 640 x 960 pixels, but on the inside there's a twice more powerful dual-core A5 processor. It also improves connectivity a notch, bringing 14.4Mbps HSPA download speeds. The back is where an 8-megapixel camera resides and it's capable of recording 1080p videos.

In the clip, a crew of the late-night talk show presents to random people on the streets of Hollywood an iPhone 4s, telling them that it is the newly-released iPhone 5.

The results were hilarious. People are praising the faux-iPhone 5 for being lighter and faster, not knowing that it is an older version of the iPhone.

"It’s a little thinner." one man said. "Looks like the screen is a little bit bigger."

Another man commented, "It’s a lot higher quality. If you drop it, it looks like it’s not going to break" as he said his current phone had."

Apple Shuts off iTunes Ping Social Network

Apple shuts down Ping, after making hints about its future back in May, Apple has announced plans to shut down Ping as of September 30th.

Ping was originally announced in fall 2010 as a social network in which users followed and liked the tunes each other listened to. To wit, Steve Jobs called it "sort of like Facebook and Twitter meet iTunes."

But it failed in a number of realms, most reportedly the realm of people actually using it. It was a bit clunky, offered commercials nonstop and didn't have a friend-finding feature after a deal with Facebook fell through.

Apple CEO Tim Cook thinks he knows what happened: "We tried Ping and I think the customer voted and said, 'This isn't something that I want to put a lot of energy into.'"

This would be sad news, but you probably weren't aware it existed in the first place.

iPhone 5, the thinnest and lightest iPhone ever [Press Release]

Apple CEO Tim Cook unveiled the latest updates to Apple's line of smartphones in a special event at Yerba Buena Arts Center in San Francisco.

From Apple Press Info:

SAN FRANCISCO—September 12, 2012—Apple® today announced iPhone® 5, the thinnest and lightest iPhone ever, completely redesigned to feature a stunning new 4-inch Retina™ display; an Apple-designed A6 chip for blazing fast performance; and ultrafast wireless technology*—all while delivering even better battery life.** iPhone 5 comes with iOS 6, the world’s most advanced mobile operating system with over 200 new features including: the all new Maps app with Apple-designed cartography and turn-by-turn navigation; Facebook integration; Passbook® organization; and even more Siri® features and languages.

“iPhone 5 is the most beautiful consumer device that we’ve ever created,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. “We’ve packed an amazing amount of innovation and advanced technology into a thin and light, jewel-like device with a stunning 4-inch Retina display, blazing fast A6 chip, ultrafast wireless, even longer battery life; and we think customers are going to love it.”

iPhone 5 is the thinnest smartphone in the world, with an all-new 7.6 mm anodized aluminum body that is 18 percent thinner and 20 percent lighter than iPhone 4S. Designed with an unprecedented level of precision, iPhone 5 combines an anodized aluminum body with diamond cut chamfered edges and glass inlays for a truly incredible fit and finish.

The new 4-inch Retina display on iPhone 5 delivers even more pixels than iPhone 4S, making the already incredible Retina display even better. By making the screen taller, not wider, iPhone 5 is just as easy to use with one hand so you can tap, type and scroll the same way you always have, while enjoying even more of your content including amazing apps optimized for the larger Retina display, widescreen HD video, a full five days of your Calendar and more of every web page.

iPhone 5 supports ultrafast wireless standards including LTE and DC-HSDPA, so you can browse, download and stream content even faster. To support the latest LTE technology, Apple has pioneered a unique single-radio LTE solution that provides blazing fast speeds while fitting perfectly into the new remarkably thin design. iPhone 5 features dual-band 802.11n Wi-Fi support for a wireless experience up to 150 Mbps.***

The all-new A6 chip was designed by Apple to maximize performance and power efficiency to support all the incredible new features in iPhone 5, including the stunning new 4-inch Retina display—all while delivering even better battery life. With up to twice the CPU and graphics performance, almost everything you do on iPhone 5 is blazing fast for launching apps, loading web pages and downloading email attachments.

The 8 megapixel iSight® camera is the most popular camera in the world and with iPhone 5, it’s even better. The new camera is completely redesigned with incredible optical performance, yet amazingly it’s 25 percent smaller than the camera in iPhone 4S. The new iSight camera in iPhone 5 features a sapphire crystal lens cover that is thinner and more durable than standard glass with the ability to provide crystal clear images. The new panorama feature lets you capture jaw-dropping panorama images of up to 28 megapixels by simply moving the camera across a scene in one smooth motion. New video features include improved stabilization, video face detection for up to 10 faces and the ability to take still photos as you record. A new FaceTime® HD front facing camera makes FaceTime calls incredibly clear and can also be used for self portraits and recording 720p HD video. iPhone 5 also allows you to share photos with friends and family using iCloud’s Shared Photo Streams.

iPhone 5 features the new Lightning™ connector that is smaller, smarter and more durable than the previous connector. The all-digital Lightning connector features an adaptive interface that uses only the signals that each accessory requires, and it’s reversible so you can instantly connect to your accessories. The Lightning-to-30-pin Adapter is also available to connect iPhone 5 to legacy 30-pin accessories.****

iPhone 5 introduces new enhanced audio features including a new beam-forming, directional microphone system for higher quality sound, while background noise fades away with new noise canceling technology. iPhone 5 now includes support for cellular wideband audio for crisper word clarity and more natural sounding speech. Wideband audio will be supported by over 20 carriers worldwide at launch. iPhone 5 comes with the new Apple EarPods™ featuring a breakthrough design for a more natural fit and increased durability, and an incredible acoustic quality typically reserved for higher-end earphones.

Apple working the Internet Radio Service

Apple plans to expand its services into customized internet radio world. Now the tech giant is reportedly in negotiations with major record labels.

Apple is planning a new service that will allow users to stream music based on their personal tastes, according to reports today in the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times. The service is said to be a competitor with existing services like Pandora and Slacker Radio. But, since this is Apple we're talking about, the new offering will most likely be app-based with possible integration into iTunes— not a website that you can visit in your browser.

Apple is reportedly working on securing new licensing deals with the record labels that will allow it to deliver a service with novel features. For instance, users of Apple's service may be able to play several songs by a single artist, or even one particular song several times— something that Pandora prohibits as a condition of its limited rights agreement.

The Apple streaming service would use Apple's iAds platform and would likely take the form of an iOS app. The Cupertino company is reportedly in the beginning stages of negotiation with the labels and isn't expected to announce the service anytime soon, so don't expect to hear about it at next week's iPhone (and possibly iPod) event.
Apple working on Internet Radio Service

Apple has consistently declined to compete head-to-head with services that allow users to stream large quantities of music online for a monthly fee like Spotify and Rdio. An Internet radio solution, however, would signal an acknowledgment by the iTunes creator that today's music consumers are no longer content with buying individual songs for $1 a piece.

Apple MacBook Air 13-inch Laptop Computer – Long Battery Life

Apple has yet again released a newer version of its acclaimed super thin and light MacBook Air line up. Dubbed as the MacBook Air 2012, this ultraportable device remains at a middle ground between the thicker MacBook Pro and the thinner earlier version, the MacBook Air 2011.

The MacBook Air (mid-2012) battery as lasting “up to 7 hours”, but we’re pleased to report that Apple’s marketing is understating that number by as much as an hour and a half.

Here are various reported samplings from the 2012 MacBook Air 13″:

8:25 – screen at 40% brightness, keyboard backlighting on 50% brightness, light web browsing with Safari (no Flash plug-in installed), and text-based work in TextWrangler and Pages.
6:45 – screen at 70% brightness, otherwise same as above
5:33 – screen at 80% brightness, keyboard backlighting on full brightness, heavy app usage.
4:15 – screen at 100% brightness, keyboard backlighting on full brightness, heavy app usage with tons of apps open including Chrome (with Flash) open with about 25 browser tabs, image editing in Pixelmator, using 6GB of RAM, while driving an external 22″ display.
3:40 – screen at 80% brightness, reasonable app usage, heavy wi-fi usage downloading 16GB sustained at 1.2mb/sec.

The big change in the MacBook Air 13 is the move to the new Ivy Bridge base processor. For the base configuration, this is the Intel Core i5-3427U dual core processor. It offers a slight speed bump over the older Core i5-2557M found in last years model. Performance actually improved much more thanks to the increased speed of the 4GB of DDR3 memory up to the 1600MHz from 1333MHz.

For the 11-inch MacBook Air 2012, the base model with its Intel Core i5 central processor is clocked at 1.7 GHz but has a Turbo Boost capability of up to 2.6 GHz. For the 13 inches, the default processor with its Intel Core i5 chip measures 1.8 GHz but gives up to 2.8 GHz of performance at Turbo Boost. For storage, there are the 64 GB and 128 GB SSDs for the 11-inch model, and 128 GB and 256 GB for the 13-inch model. For the 128 GB in the 11-inch MacBook Air 2012, the drive is configurable with a 256 GB or 512 GB SSD drive. For the 256 GB model in the 13-inch MacBook Air 2012, it can be bumped up to 512 GB for an additional $500. For all versions the default RAM size is 4 GB (1,600MHz DDR3L) with an option to upgrade to 8 GB for another $100.

Apple MacBook Air 13-inch Tech Specs.

Intel Core i5-3427U Dual Core Mobile Processor
4GB PC3-12800 DDR3 Memory
128GB Solid State Drive
13.3" WXA+ (1440x900) Display With 1.3 Megapixel Webcam
Intel HD Graphics 4000 Integrated Graphics
802.11a/g/n Wireless, Bluetooth
Two USB 3.0, Thunderbolt, SDXC Card Slot
12.8" x 8.9" x .7" @ 3 lbs.
Mac OS X, iLife

MacBook Air 2012 Keyboard and Touchpad
The keyboards are just as comfy as ever, and though they're not quite as cushy as what you'll find on a MacBook Pro, they still offer more travel than most Ultrabook keyboards. Also unchanged: that spacious glass trackpad. Throw in the white LED backlighting, and it’s mostly a pleasure to type on. Palm rejection is excellent as well, and we enjoyed flawless tracking in both OS X and Windows 7, which we installed using Bootcamp. The built-in button, too, is quiet and easy to press.

MacBook Air 2012 Screen and Speakers
Apple was ahead of most 13in competitors with the Air’s screen resolution of 1,440 x 900. However, now we’re seeing more and more rivals offering 1,600 x 900 or even Full HD (1,920 x 1,080) at the same screen size. On top of that, while the panel Apple has used is certainly one of the better examples of TN, it’s still inferior to the IPS and PLS we’re beginning to see in premium laptops from other brands.

Apple unveils iOS6 and Updated Siri

Biggest updates from apple, Apple launches the iOS-6 at Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) today, June 11.

This is the next iteration of Apple’s operating system with main features that include the ability to launch apps with Siri, Facebook integration, and a new Maps app. Apple says there are actually more than 200 new features on the iOS 6.

CEO Tim Cook, who took over from late co-founder Steve Jobs last August, spearheaded the unveiling of new services - such as in-house mapping and beefed-up Siri software - to help keep at bay Google and its fast-growing Android mobile platform.

Apple tweaked several features in its mobile operating system to try to enhance its ability to entice users to stay within its ecosystem. The upgrades marked a bolstering of Apple’s arsenal as it tries to keep its top-down applications and hardware environment ahead of competition from Android device makers such as Samsung Electronics and Motorola Mobility.

But the highlight was the debut of Apple’s in-house mapping service after years of development, a direct challenge to the same Google service that is one of the most popular functions on both Android smartphones and the iPhone.

Apple’s new mobile software — the iOS6 — will be available in the fall. It comes with a mapping system “built from the ground up,” said software chief Scott Forstall.

ios6 596x415.jpg

It will be replacing Google Maps, until now a pre-loaded app on the iPhone and iPad, with its own in-house map service, delivering a big blow to Google, which gets about half its mobile map traffic from Apple mobile devices.

The move signals how the friendship between the two tech giants — former Google CEO Eric Schmidt once sat on Apple’s board — has become a bitter rivalry shaping the evolution of the mobile industry. Late co-founder Jobs was famously quoted as saying he was willing to go “thermonuclear” on the search leader, after it decided to position Android against the iPhone.

Now Apple will do its utmost to reduce its reliance on Google, said Colin Gillis, analyst with BGC Partners.

“What happens if one day Google decides to not provide Apple with maps,” said Gillis. “You can’t have that kind of dependency on a competitor.”

Apple’s map service comes with three-dimensional images of cities called “Flyover” along with real-time traffic updates and also turn-by-turn navigation, the last a feature that Google has in Android devices but had not made available in Apple devices.

And Siri, the innovative voice-activated iPhone search-feature users have criticized as faulty and inadequate, will now also be available on iPads and recites a larger database of answers, especially sports, restaurants and movies.

Siri is also integrated into the new mapping service so users can ask for step-by-step directions.

While Apple is late to the game with turn-by-turn directions, Forrester analyst Charles Golvin said that Apple’s new service featured various nice touches, demonstrating Apple’s ability to take an experience offered by rivals and “go even further.”

He also cited a new app for iPhone and iPads called Passbook that organizes a user’s electronic airline tickets, movie tickets and restaurant loyalty cards. The app is a “harbinger of them doing much, much more,” said Golvin, pointing to the electronic payment and mobile commerce market.

Finally, executives said Apple has integrated No. 1 social network Facebook deeper into the operating system, allowing Siri-users to post photos with voice commands.

Shares in Apple ended Monday down 1.6 percent at $571.17 after climbing in early trade, repeating a typical pattern where investors buy up the stock in anticipation of news, then cash out.

Macbook Pro with Retina Display cnet Hands on – Video

Apple has unveiled a new MacBook Pro, complete with Retina display, at its WWDC event in San Francisco. Watch below the Hands on Review video from cnet.

The new generation laptop, known simply as the MacBook Pro (or new MacBook Pro) as previously, houses the world’s highest resolution notebook display with a 2880 x 1800 pixel resolution and a pixel density of 220ppi. The size of the display is 15.4-inches and currently there are no other "Retina" models. Apple says "we can expect glare to be reduced by 75 per cent - handy for these sunny days - and it uses IPS as previous Apple displays have".

Apple is promising up to seven hours of battery life and 30 days' standby. And, best of all, it is shipping from today with prices starting at £1,799 for the 15-inch new MacBook Pro.

macbook-pro-with-retina-display-cnet-review.jpg

The new Macbook pro runs with 16GB of RAM, NVIDIA Kepler GT 650M graphics, up to a quad-core 2.7GHz Core i7 processor, a maximum 768GB of SSD storage, and seven hours of battery life with 30 days standby.  Apple removed the optical drive, so you will need an external drive if you want to play those DVDs.  Apple likewise removed the Ethernet and FireWire 800 ports.  Apple decided to replace these with two USB 3.0 ports and two Thunderbolt inputs.  There’s also one HDMI port.  The MagSafe connector has also been changed and is now thinner.

There are plenty of options available for configuration, at various price points, with the 2.6GHz Core i7, 8GB RAM and 512GB SSD version costing a cool £2,299.

Apple to ban on Samsung Galaxy S3 in the US

Samsung will fight Apple's attempt to ban the Samsung Galaxy S3 mobile phone from being sold in the US.

The iPhone-maker claims that the S3 breaches two of its patents and says the handset is "not more than colorably different from the Galaxy Nexus", But why? Because of infringements pertaining to Apple’s infamous voice command sassy butler Siri.

According to redmondpie site, Apple isn’t too satisfied about some of the fairly blatant similarities between Samsung’s own proprietary S Voice interface and Siri, and this could cause some serious inconvenience for the people behind the roughly nine million or so rumored pre-orders of the Galaxy S III.

Meanwhile, Samsung release a statement:

"If Apple wishes to seek an injunction against the Galaxy S III, the Court should require Apple to file a new motion and allow the parties to develop a full factual record on all four factors. Accordingly, the Court should reject Apple’s motion to amend its current notice of motion for a preliminary injunction."

If ever, If the nine million pre-order rumor holds true, that would mean that quite a fair bit of people would be disappointed if Apple succeeds, allegations will have no impact on the already pre-ordered devices..

The Korean firm, now the world’s biggest manufacturer of smartphones, has retaliated by claiming Apple has infringed its 3G technology.

iPhone 5 new photos leaked Online!

Here' the leake photos of iPhone 5. Parts of the iPhone 5 picture has been leaked online. The leaked images show that the next iPhone will retain the physical home button and will have a metal back with a smaller dock. The photos also suggest that the next-generation iPhone will have the same width, but has a taller screen.

From Tech blog 9to5Mac, "From a production standpoint, it appears that the metal antenna band is molded into the metal backplates. We assume this is Apple's way of creating a unibody enclosure for mobile devices. Apple introduced unibody notebooks in late 2008, and the purpose of the unibody is to allow Apple to produce thinner and lighter, yet stronger, devices. Now that most of the phone's external elements are one piece, Apple is likely able to squeeze more into the iPhone internally. Apple needs all the space they can get with their plans of producing LTE smartphones with proper battery life."

Cheapest way to Dry iPhone for Water Damage – Video

How to fix or dry iPhone in a water damage? What should you do if you accidentally drop your iPhone 4 or iPhone 4S and iPhone 5?

Well the first thing is don't take it back to an Apple Store or Carphone Warehouse and pretend it's nothing to do with water. The iPhone has four 'Liquid Submersion indicators' inside it that turn pink on contact with water - so they will know if you're telling porkies.

If you accidentally drop your iPhone in liquid, you may either use rice as shown in the video to revive that wet iPhone.

The warranty of electronic gadgets may not cover damage due to water.

Here the procedure for drying an iPhone 4 damaged by water is as follows:

It is important to get the iPhone 4 out of the water as soon as possible. Once the iPhone 4 or iPhone 4S out of the water, you turn it off immediately. If you see a white windmill on the screen and turns off the device, hold the power button and home button until it turns off. Then remove the card SIM.

Pack the iPhone in a sealed plastic bag of uncooked rice or Silica gel and store it in a dry place for at least three days. That should ensure all the moisture is drawn out from the electronic innards of your iPhone.
Squeeze the plastic bag for all the extra air out and seal.

If you can't get hold of the Silica gel quickly place your iPhone in a bag, container or box of uncooked rice and reseal it. This will keep it as dry as possible in the meantime. Transfer the iPhone to the Silica gel bags when you get them. As you know, they’re designed to absorb moisture, which means they offer a great method for sucking the water out of your wet device. Be patience at this time.

Finally connect up your iPhone to your PC, load up iTunes and try to do a complete Restore. This will provide you with the best chance of getting the iPhone to its pre-drenched working state.

Let the iPhone 4 in the plastic bag 48 to 76 hours and then turn it on. If still not working properly as a result of water damage, put the iPhone back on rice for about 12 hours more.

A virus can be introduced to a computer system along with any software program. For Internet users, this threat can come from downloading files through FTP (file transfer protocol), or referencing email attachments.

Here is the Answer:

Elk Cloner, Richard Rich Skrenta
Elk Cloner — is one of the first known microcomputer viruses that spread "in the wild," i.e., outside the computer system or lab in which it was written. It was written around 1982 by a 15-year-old high school student named Richard "Rich" Skrenta for Apple II systems.

The virus infected thousands of machines, but was harmless: It merely displayed a poem across the user's screen.

Rich Skrenta is a computer programmer and Silicon Valley entrepreneur who created the search engine blekko.

Here the display into an infected computer — short poem on every 50th boot:
Elk Cloner: The program with a personality
It will get on all your disks
It will infiltrate your chips
Yes, it's Cloner!
It will stick to you like glue
It will modify RAM too
Send in the Cloner!
