August 2012 – Facebook aquire Instagram

instagram logo.png
Instagram was founded by Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger with 14 employees as of April 2012 the headquarters is located in San Francisco, California, USA.

Instagram initial release October 6, 2010; 17 months ago Founded in 2010 – a free photo sharing application that allows users to take a photo, apply a digital filter to it, and then share it on a variety of social networking services, including Instagram's own.

A distinctive feature confines photos to a square shape, similar to Kodak Instamatic and Polaroid images, in contrast to the 4:3 aspect ratio typically used by mobile device cameras.

Instagram was initially supported on iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch; in April 2012, the company added support for Android camera phones running 2.2 (Froyo) or higher. It is distributed via the iTunes App Store and Google Play.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced the acquisition in a post on his Facebook Timeline Monday.

I'm excited to share the news that we've agreed to acquire Instagram and that their talented team will be joining Facebook.

For years, we've focused on building the best experience for sharing photos with your friends and family. Now, we'll be able to work even more closely with the Instagram team to also offer the best experiences for sharing beautiful mobile photos with people based on your interests.

We believe these are different experiences that complement each other. But in order to do this well, we need to be mindful about keeping and building on Instagram's strengths and features rather than just trying to integrate everything into Facebook.

That's why we're committed to building and growing Instagram independently. Millions of people around the world love the Instagram app and the brand associated with it, and our goal is to help spread this app and brand to even more people.

We think the fact that Instagram is connected to other services beyond Facebook is an important part of the experience. We plan on keeping features like the ability to post to other social networks, the ability to not share your Instagrams on Facebook if you want, and the ability to have followers and follow people separately from your friends on Facebook.

These and many other features are important parts of the Instagram experience and we understand that. We will try to learn from Instagram's experience to build similar features into our other products. At the same time, we will try to help Instagram continue to grow by using Facebook's strong engineering team and infrastructure.

This is an important milestone for Facebook because it's the first time we've ever acquired a product and company with so many users. We don't plan on doing many more of these, if any at all. But providing the best photo sharing experience is one reason why so many people love Facebook and we knew it would be worth bringing these two companies together.

We're looking forward to working with the Instagram team and to all of the great new experiences we're going to be able to build together.

Facebook Surpasses 2.7 Billion Likes and 845 Million users

Facebook has 845 million monthly active users, 2.7 billion likes and comments per day 250 million photos uploaded per day, 100 billion friendship.

Mark Zuckerberg can also make a record for the youngest billionaire, his way to being wealthy like Bill Gates and Warren Buffett.

From Yahoo:

The world’s largest social network is going public. Facebook filed the initial paperwork for its public stock offering on February 1, revealing some interesting statistics and future plans in the process.
According to the filing, Facebook now sports a record 845 million active users, up 39 percent from the year before. More than half of Facebook users (483 million) log on to the site daily and 50 percent of users (425 million) access Facebook using their mobile device.

Ancestry.com founder and Google+ tracker Paul Allen announced that, by his estimates, Google+ passed the 100 million user milestone on February 1. He added that the social network is on track to hit at least 400 million users by the end of 2012.

Google CEO Larry Page revealed that Google+ had grown to reach more than 90 million users on January 19 but declined to provide active user figures.

While Google is excited about its mobile future, Facebook is concerned that it will have to change its ad-free policy as mobile usage grows or miss out on a large portion of revenue.

For the time being, Facebook does not display ads to mobile users but reveals in the filing that “the number of ads that we deliver to users and our revenue may be negatively affected unless and until we include ads or sponsored stories on our mobile apps and mobile website.”

Facebook also notes that it will need to maintain a good relationship with developers who create apps for the Facebook platform lest they “choose to build on other platforms, including mobile platforms [such as iOS and Android] controlled by third parties.”

The Wall Street Journal reports that Facebook “hopes to raise as much as $10 billion when it begins selling shares this spring.”

Google's 13th Birthday: Doodle Celebrates Anniversary

Google Doodle Celebrating 13th Birthday of Google, Google Doodle: Happy 13th Birthday Google
Happy Birthday Google!! Google Inc. is celebrating 13th birthday today with Google Doodle. They have successfully completed their 13th years on web and they are most preferred search engine and most visited website.

Google Inc. is an American multinational public corporation invested in Internet search, cloud computing, and advertising technologies. Google hosts and develops a number of Internet-based services and products, and generates profit primarily from advertising through its AdWords program.

Google Doodle: 13th birthday cake for search engine, 14th, Google Search, Google Doodle
Google began in January 1996 as a research project by Larry Page and Sergey Brin when they were both PhD students at Stanford University in California.

While conventional search engines ranked results by counting how many times the search terms appeared on the page, the two theorized about a better system that analyzed the relationships between websites.

They called this new technology PageRank (Google have a PageRank of 10/10), where a website's relevance was determined by the number of pages, and the importance of those pages, that linked back to the original site.

A small search engine called "RankDex" from IDD Information Services designed by Robin Li was, since 1996, already exploring a similar strategy for site-scoring and page ranking. The technology in RankDex would be patented and used later when Li founded Baidu in China.

Page and Brin originally nicknamed their new search engine "BackRub", because the system checked backlinks to estimate the importance of a site.

Facebook Timeline Trend World Wide

Mark Zuckerberg unviels the most comprehensive rollout to Facebook profiles yet. It's called Timeline of Facebook Timeline.

The unveiling of Facebook Timeline top Trends on Search Engine like, Bing, Yahoo and Google.

Timeline divides Facebook pages into two columns, where photos, comments, videos, and updates display one's own unique life story, all the way down to one's birth. To fill out the experience, users can click on any point in the timeline and add comments, events, or photos from the past. In other words, Timeline allows users to scroll through each other's entire lives on Facebook.

The new Timeline profile aims to change this. The new layout of the profile is very much different from the current profile layout. Timeline is more visual and tries to achieve its purpose by means of photos and apps. It utilizes a chronological timeline to highlight the most important content shared by the user on Facebook.

Timeline is meant to be highly customizable. The user gets more control over what he wants to share as the most important activities. If the user feels that important parts of the story aren’t included in his timeline, he can easily add them by going back to that time or by going to the private activity log where everything shared since joining Facebook are found.

Top 10 Major Changes of Facebook, you should know

Facebook is driven by a single, unique goal. Its priority isn’t to gain more users (it already has 750 million of those), nor does it feel compelled to find stupid ways to increase pageviews. Its primary goal right now isn’t to increase revenue, either that will come later.

Here’s a look at the changes to the News Feed that the social network already rolled out that have lots of users talking:

10: To customise your News Feed even more, you can use the Lists option. It is on the left hand menu. Add people to different Lists that already exist such as Close Friends or Family or create your own ones by selecting “More”. Then by clicking the List name, you’ll generate updates in your News Feed only from the people in that list.
Prepare Yourselves: Facebook To Be Profoundly Changed

9: If you’ve hidden posts, friends or other updates from your News Feed, you can call them back again by editing it. Click the pencil icon next to the words ‘News Feed’ in your left hand menu and then select Edit.

8: Top News and Most Recent are now combined as two separate elements in one News Feed. You simply scroll down to see the recent ones rather than clicking a button to make these appear in their own feed.

7: If you don’t want details of how you are using Apps to show up in the Ticker, go to Application Settings and click Only Me under the Customise menu.

6: Album Layout Last but not least, Facebook has made album design a bit more aesthetic. Albums that appear in your newsfeed stack three photos for a more creative viewing experience.

5:Ticker / Chat If you expand your chat sidebar (whether or not you're online), the ticker attaches to the top. That way, any page you navigate away from the home feed will still display real-time updates. Adjust chat/ticker proportions by hovering over the gray bar between chat and the ticker.

4:Hide Posts In the drop-down tab on the upper right of every post, you still have the option to hide posts (whether to delete the individual story or to hide that person's updates altogether). In the new version, you also have the option to mark a post as a top story, thus increasing the likelihood that that type of post or friend will appear in your Top Stories feed.

3:Recent Stories However, the new post notification bar doesn't refresh as often, but instead automatically expands new stories much like the older version.

2: New Posts Above your top stories you'll find the option to expand more recent posts, much like Twitter's "47 new tweets" real-time notification bar.

1:Top Stories Facebook's new design highlights posts that you'll likely find important, and prioritizes them at the top of your feed when you log in. The top stories are designated by a blue tag in the upper left corner of the post. From what we can see, however, top stories don't regenerate much throughout the day -- especially if you keep Facebook open in your browser like your Twitter ticker.

Top 6 Current Technologies with Impressive Output

Everyone starts looks for our future the next one and there will no doubt be an upsurge of news predicting the web trends of 2011 in the next days to come.

In next 20 years our technology will reach a level of personalization that will enhance every moment of our lives. We’ll be more physically comfortable with the furniture we sit on and the products we hold; only the most relevant and personalized information from friends and family will reach us.

Here the list of Current Technologies that Will Shape-will Our Future.

1. Cloud Computing
Top 6 Current Technologies with Impressive Output

The two most notable exceptions are Google and Apple. Google Docs is arguably the first cloud-based app that gained mainstream traction. Apple’s iCloud looks like it has the potential to cross the chasm and move the early majority into the cloud. With tomorrow’s cloud computing, all of our personal information and the applications will be available to us at any time.

2. Smart Phone
smartphones htc
Smart-phones, like today’s iPhone, are as much a computer as they are a communication device. Besides having a great multi-touch interface and fast CPU, they contain sensors like cameras, gyros, accelerometers, GPS and compasses. They allow us to calculate and communicate anytime, anywhere.

3. 2. 3G and 4G Wireless Broadband
2. 3G and 4G Wireless Broadband

The deployment of today’s cell towers is a slow, deliberate and costly affair. In the future, deployment will be faster and more organic. Wireless providers will likely credit homeowners’ monthly bills for having devices like AT&T’s 3G MicroCell at home. With enough of these devices in place, even remote neighborhoods and towns will enjoy solid wireless access to the cloud.

4. Social Networking

Social networking as it exists today on Facebook and Twitter requires users to do extra work to extract value. We must diligently manage our community of friends and followers, and weed through all the tweets and posts for those that pique our interest. In the future, the management of our network will be dynamic and automated; the system will make and break connections to ensure maximum value.

5. CAD, 3D Printing & Custom Products
CAD, 3D Printing & Custom Products

Computer-aided design (CAD) products are popular among engineers, designers and students for creating 3D product designs. But the software is often too advanced for the average consumer to design his or her own products.

3D Printing (3DP), like that from Dimension, is another amazing technology that will take a 3D CAD model and “print” layers of material, one on top of the previous, to produce a real physical model. It can create almost any shape, even those that can’t be made by traditional manufacturing.

6. Kinect’s motion/voice technology

Kinect (originally known by the code name Project Natal), is a motion sensing input device by Microsoft for the Xbox 360 video game console. Based around a webcam-style add-on peripheral for the Xbox 360 console, it enables users to control and interact with the Xbox 360 without the need to touch a game controller, through a natural user interface using gestures and spoken commands.

Google Doodle tribute 65th Birthday of Freddie Mercury [VIDEO]

Freddie Mercury Google Doodle.jpg
Google doodle tribute to artist, performer, and pioneer Freddie Mercury for his 65th birthday in celebration of Freddie for a Day, and it’s definitely one of the most interesting doodles to come out of Google‘s workshop yet. Note that the doodle will become visible on Sept. 6 in the U.S. out of respect for Labor Day.

One of the best vocalists ever in rock music, Mercury was born on Sept. 5, 1946, and he died in on Nov. 24, 1991.

He was known for his flamboyant presence on stage, amazing four-octave vocal range and an unforgettable series of hits which ranged from hard rock to power ballads to neo-classical pieces.

In the music video (animated) Google Doodle, Mercury is shown singing on stage in front of screaming fans, sat on a throne wearing a crown and dressed as a woman, and strutting about with a hoover.
